Poem: I Whisper the Sweetest Thing

 New poem:

I whisper the sweetest thing that ever graced my heart
A sound of true utterances and passionate elegance
Beauty and truth, a sacred vow of eternity
Fill me with your essence
Fill me with your hope
Let me breathe your heart’s love
And I shall dwell in the crevice made within your existence
A place created only for me
And together we shall soar above the world
On silken wings

Yeah, so, tell me what you all think.

Poem: 2 Untitleds

I wrote some poetry in philosophy today… ^_^;;; So here’s the first one:

A whisper dear
A whisper true
The shades of lie
Screamed forthright

And the second one:

The hills sprang upon the moor
like an overgrown thatch
Littered with amethyst heather
smelling sweetly of heaven
I stood, encased in a single, solitary shack
A monolithe of weathered wood
A spittle; the sound of the wind meeting a crack
and stirring a few leaves on the floor
No.
Heather. Dried heather.
There are no trees; this empty plain
A moan.
Silent. Unheard cry.
Ghosts reminicing their pain

OMG… I’ve done it again. Read just one thing and it set me off, lol! Here’s the post I made to a comment posted there:

(Reading is dangerous!)

=blinks at short-sighted comment= Melissa, deary, I’d not bother with a word of that commentary, and if you understand anything of the true artworld, then you understand artistic quality better than the commentor. True, the blond chibi does in some respect resemble Pokemon, however, I do not think that a qualifiable premise for a negative critique. In fact, I think he looks more like a yellow tiger than the electrical rat. ^_~

As for the quality of your “coloring,” I must say that I was quite horrified by the possible answer to the “problem” as being photoshop. Don’t get me wrong, I love Photoshop. I think it’s a wonderful, WONDERFUL tool. But I don’t think that all art must be CGed. Austell Callwood and Steve Bennett have both stated that CG art can never be a true replacement for classic medium. Just take a look at the comics that litter the shelves of both grocery stores and comic stores. Many artists are reverting to soley using CG art as a way of making their comics cheap. This may be a good idea, but the passion is slightly missing. I’ve found that I no longer collect comics because the art feels lacking.

The only comment I agreed with was how the blond chibi does look chopped off at the waist. My comment would be that you should look into different ways of dealing with this. The two bottom figures could be drawn farther up, or closer together.

In particular, I love the whispy, sketchy style. I love prismacolors! And markers and paint! I even love crayons, gosh-be-darnnit! They’re all so very diverse! Just take a look at the art hanging up in the museums. They didn’t get there because they conformed to the popular fad. If they had, we would never have had Monet, or Caldwell, or Matisse, Kadinsky, or Dali. How about Andy Worhall, Georgia O’Keefe, or Jackson Pollock? Boy, if we had never been blessed by these character, what a droll world would we be living in!

Point being, a particular style should never be a reason to negatively critique any form of art. And one should never dis a person’s taste in design.

And those chibis are absolutely adorable! ^_~

Everyone is an Artist

“What happens that causes so many people to stop drawing? I think it has a lot to do with peer pressure. It’s hard enough growing up, and art is just one more thing that you can have out there for people to pick on – and that’s why so many of us stop, i think. Stubborn people like myself put up with years of being picked on – maybe because creative drive is that much stronger, I really don’t know. I think it has more to do with being stubborn.”

–Fred Gallagher (creator of Mega Tokyo)

^_^ Okies, so I totally agree! ^_^ Basically, I needed to post this quote from Fred Gallagher’s interview with The Pulse for no other reason than I liked what he said. It’s basically that which keeps me drawing. An individual can spend a life on art, trust me, I know! ^_~ Even though my path leads far away from art, the understanding, the mentality that fighting for art gives one, remains with me through it.

I listen to my best friend say she can’t draw. I listen to others say the same. And truthfully, they can’t because they say they can’t. Art is an expression of one’s self. Even if it’s realistic art, anime, what-have-you, it’s still your style, your drawings, your art. In art, the one thing you can never do is to allow others to criticize you and destroy your ideas and creations. They can never touch the actual art, but if you allow their words to trully affect you, your world is destroyed, your art no more. The creator must have faith in their art for that art to exist.

There is an unsaid standard. If it’s to be realistic, it must look photographic. And of course, variations on the like. My goal has always been to explain that art takes the form your subconscious dictates, not the other way around. Therefore, if you were to listen to what you can’t hear, to close your mind away from society’s rules, your art will formulate an original expression of yourself, and tell yourself what you trully need to hear.

Art is a dangerous thing. It can reveal to us what even we do not want to hear.

But if you don’t listen to it, if you always follow society, you will never achieve that unique individuality. Okay, so in a sense, this is obcenely difficult. But society blantantly destroys that pure uniqueness that all children are blessed with. To go against that tutelage as a much older individual, when you’ve had years of ritualistic originality-bashing, to be blunt, it’s almost impossible. You feel as though you are going against yourself, and in a sense, you are right. It’s helped to shape who you are. But there will always be that part of you that holds on to the uniqueness.

Remember those happy childhood days.

And then there is another side to the equation. Not only when you look at the art you do have, and it may even be good by public standards, you absolutely detest it. Usually this is because you still feel it does not meet to the standards. But also, if your self wants you to draw a certain way, and you can’t find that way it wants you to drawl, then you feel your art is inadequate. Art is a self-discovery, in any form that it takes. When it calls, heed to it, for your own peace of mind.

And we artists, that have drawn since the dawing of time, or pretty much since we could hold a marking utensil in hand, and still continue to draw figures and marks, doodles and plain nonsense at times, never stop. You’ll lose a part of you and later wonder what it is you need. Keep it close to your heart.

Children are lucky in many ways. They first understand what art means, they don’t need true dipictions to express themselves. Maybe they’re even wiser than we are. Teachers, a tree can be purple, or blue, or red, or black. The leaves can be yellow, or maroon. The sky can be gold or green. Anything is possible. They say the eye sees things that our mind can’t register. Who knows. Maybe that’s what children see. Or they’re just more creative than we. They haven’t had the years of sterilization that we older generations have. The ones who’s teachers gave us bad grades because our trees weren’t brown.

In essence, never give up on art. Incourage it in anyone you know. If Rosseau can paint distorted self-portraits and jungles of larger-than-life pansies and grassblades, if Jackson Pollock can sling paint on a canvas and call it art, then by God above, why do we humans feel we have to draw figures that must look as photographic as possible?

This obtuse cycle must be broken. If for no other reason than that children can grow up to believe in themselves.

Poem and Reflection of Living

I’m the quiet fiend….
That dances in the dark…
Charms everyone’s hearts…
And leaves the dew on the rose…

There are so many little things that bring a smile to my face and light to my heart. And often nothing to incite a laugh. How can I express that sometimes happiness can so consume me that the only way to express it is for bubbling laughter to issue forth. And as my wont is, to share that with others. Perhaps I’m silly, and perhaps I’m insane, as is the description my friends often call me, jokingly of course. But to cause happiness is a happiness. I’m no commedian, not by a long shot. But my seemingly randomness at least keeps others on their toes and hopefully, away from their woes. Perhaps people will never understand why I do certain things, but as long as the purpose is fulfilled, then there is no point to explain. It cheapens the purpose and hurts its mission. But whoever I am and whatever I will eventually do, I have at least one mission that has no concievable end. That is to spread happiness. For life is for the Living. And happiness and being alive are companions. Our lives would be incomplete without them, and there is such a lack of happiness in this world. But happiness is how you percieve it. And the only thing I can easily say, is look for the little things. They quickly bring a smile to your lips, and they surround you everywhere. In everything. And are the key to something many have lost.

Here’s the last post, fixed…:
