They say that everyone has a soul mate. This person is bonded to you, is able to feel your pain, your loneliness and rescues you from it. They say that through life's journeys, you search for this person, hoping that one day you will find them.

They say that life is full of wrongs, but love is the one thing that can save you from them and make everything right once more. They say that to love someone is to find a miracle in them that no one else sees . . . when you talk to the one you love, you are afraid to hold them . . . when you hold them, you are afraid to love them . . . and when you love them, you are afraid to lose them . . . so you think of them during the day and dream of them at night, when the moon is bright and its silvery light surrounds you, warming you, *tempting* you with the hope that one day you will find this person and you'll smile with your eyes, trust with your soul, and love with your heart.

Temptress Moon

Swords clashed, arrows cut through the air, cries of despair, anguish, and death raged on, echoing throughout the valley. The heart-broken skies blanketed themselves with puffy, white clouds. As soon as they engulfed the sun, these clouds turned a gray, almost a black color. They released bitter tears, trying to put an end to the fighting.

The rain muddied the ground, mixing with the red that had stained much of the Earth, in an attempt to cleanse it. The paths became more and more slippery as the rain fell harder and faster. The red ground turned brown.

The young Prince looked up at the sky. The raindrops stained his face. He did not want to go on anymore. He had seen too much . . . the loss of friends . . . the unhealing wounds . . . He could no longer fight. Closing his midnight blue eyes, he dropped his sword and fell to his knees, mourning with the Earth, becoming one with it.

He's fought and he's fallen He's on his knees before he's on his feet

"Endymion!" a worried voice yelled, "What are you doing?!?!"

The young general's blue eyes widened as he saw another man approach his Prince. The man had his sword raised.

"Endymion!!!!!!"

Jedite ran to his Prince. He knew that he wouldn't make it in time, but he wouldn't give up. Jedite was stopped by two men. He tried to fight them off, but they kept pulling him back into the battle. Jedite saw a blur of white before he saw the assassin fall to the ground. His crimson blood flowed out of his chest and mouth, seeping into the grass. The rain fell faster, mixing the red with the mud, erasing it from the ground.

"Kunzite," Jedite breathed in relief.

Zoicite and Nephrite came to Jedite's aid, finishing the two men.

"We have to get him out of here!" Kunzite yelled.

The generals nodded. Nephrite and Zoicite stood in front, providing a shield for Jedite and Kunzite. Jedite and Kunzite grabbed Endymion and dragged him away from the battle.

Seeing that their Prince reached the forest unharmed, Zoicite and Nephrite followed, making sure that no one else did.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The clouds cleared, but not enough to allow any light to come through. Everything was quiet, not even the night animals dared to come out tonight.
Zoicite began doing rounds, tending to the wounded and compiling a list of casualties. Nephrite lit some torches before preparing some scraps of food for the soldiers. With the aid of a few unharmed soldiers, Nephrite started the fire in the center of the camp, burning twigs and leaves. The smoke began drifting upward, creating images in the wind.
Kunzite paced the tent. Worry, concern, and anger present in his gray eyes.
'How could he do such a thing?!!? In the middle of a battle no less!' he thought.
Jedite watched Kunzite carefully. He knew what was going on in Kunzite's mind. He found that he wondered the same. Their Prince, Endymion, would never do such a thing. Endymion was always so rational, he would never throw caution to the wind, especially not in a battlefield.
Jedite's eyes shifted from Kunzite to Endymion, who still sat on his bed, as stiff as a corpse, with his eyes closed. The only indication that he was alive was the slight up and down motion in his chest.
"Jedite," Kunzite said sternly, effectively breaking him out of his thoughts.
"Huh? Wha?"
"Please leave us."
Jedite gulped. It wasn't a request, but a command. He knew that Kunzite would never pull rank on him, not after all the years they've known each other, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Jedite nervously looked at Kunzite and reluctantly left after he saw the look in Kunzite's snowy eyes.
"Endymion."
Endymion didn't move or acknowledge that anything was going on, rather he remained glued to his bed. He seemed completely absorbed in his own little world, a world he did not want to leave.
Kunzite growled and walked to Endymion. He placed his hands on Endymion's shoulders and began shaking him,
"Endymion please! You scared us! You scared me! What were you thinking?!?!!!" Kunzite yelled frantically.
Still nothing.
After a few moments of silence, Kunzite gave up and was about to leave the tent. A hand stopped him,
"Do you really want to know?"
Kunzite turned around. His eyes softened,
"Yes."
"Sit down," Endymion said, pointing to a nearby chair.
Kunzite nodded and grabbed the chair, setting it down before Endymion.
Endymion sighed before opening his eyes,
"I felt a presence."
"What?!"
"I don't know how to begin to describe it . . . this silvery light, it surrounded me. It was so warm. I couldn't help but close my eyes. As soon as I did, it became stronger and began filling my body."
Kunzite didn't know what to make of it. He knew how much Endymion didn't want to fight anymore and was worried about him. Today was a little too close for comfort. Something evil had to be behind it,
"Endymion, how do you know that it wasn't the enemy trying to distract you so that they could kill you?"
"I know."
"How? Why?"
"Because I just did. It didn't *feel* evil, rather it *felt* pure . . . it *felt* like love . . . no one from the nega-verse would be able to feel love or be able to do *that*."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. The light reminded me of the reflection of the moon on a lake. The lake seems to capture the essence of the moon, releasing a silver light. The light took away my emptiness. It couldn't be evil, I just know that."
"Who sent it?"
"I don't know, but I'll find out. I'll find her."
Kunzite didn't know what to say after that. He knew how unlucky Endymion was with love and hoped that whoever sent him the light would rescue him from the loneliness . . . he hoped that she would love him.
A sinister (AN: can mean unlucky) romantic,
Well he's about to be
and she's about to see
Endymion walked out of his tent a few hours later. He couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned trying to figure out what the silver light meant, if anything, or who sent it.
Perhaps it was his imagination.
No. He knew it was real.
The brisk night air caused Endymion to shiver slightly.
'I should've brought my cloak,' he thought.
Too weary to go back for it, he walked through the camp, following the path that the dimly lit torches provided for him. He tried not to make a sound as he walked through the bushes, heading toward the lake. He didn't want to wake anyone up, especially not his Generals. He knew how worried they were about him, but he just needed to be alone and reflect.
He made it to the lake moments later and noted that the moon had somehow managed to penetrate through the thick clouds. Its bright rays shone upon the surface of the lake, which in turn reflected a faint silver halo.
Endymion scanned the lake before his cobalt eyes stopped abruptly. He gasped and his eyes nearly bulged out of its sockets.
Teaching torches to burn bright
She's hanging on the cheek of night
Endymion rubbed his eyes. He had never seen such beauty in his life. He thought he was dreaming so he pinched himself. It hurt and she was still there. He then closed his eyes, but her bell-like laughter reached his ears, and he opened them again. She was still there.
A snowy dove troopin' with crows
He never saw true beauty till tonight
He blinked, still not believing the sight before him. The young woman, no goddess, sat on a rock that was situated toward the center of the lake. She donned a white gown, probably made of silk. It had an intricate gold pattern embroidered on it. Her golden hair was put up in a hairstyle he had never seen before. It looked like two meatballs on her head. A few furry white rabbits accompanied her. She was giggling at their antics.
He got up, his gaze never leaving her. He walked to where she was and was about to step on the first rock that led to the her. He missed and stepped on a twig, breaking it.
The golden-haired maiden looked up in alarm. Her sapphire blue orbs met his.
Time stilled as they gazed into each other's eyes intently. Endymion saw fear in her eyes . . . fear coupled with recognition.
Oh don't you know it
Oh don't you know it
Endymion was confused. He didn't understand how she could know him when he had never met her before, yet a part of him knew her and felt drawn to her. He felt strange sensations fill his veins, slowly making their way to his heart. He welcomed these sensations. His eyes softened and he boldly took a step toward her.
So he falls enough to feel
that he's fallen
She'll let him know his heart
Oh don't you know it
Oh don't you know it
She saw him approach and stiffened. She turned her face away from his, breaking their gaze. She picked up her silky skirts and ran.
Endymion walked faster when she turned away. He didn't want to scare her. He had almost reached her but stopped mid-step. He gasped as he saw her hair come out of its style, flowing freely in the wind. She looked breathtaking.
He gasped again when he realized that there were no rocks for her to use to get across the water. She practically floated over it as she ran from him.
He quickly composed himself and beckoned to her to stay, even though he didn't know her name.
She paid no heed, disappearing into the forest.
Endymion sighed dejectedly as he reached the rock she sat on. He noticed rose petals scattered throughout the lake. He looked down to see a few scared rabbits standing stiffly together. He knelt down and patted the rabbits, assuring them that he meant no harm.
The rabbits scurried away and sought refuge in the bushes. Endymion smiled and turned his head back to the rock. He found a perfect red rose in the place of the frightened rabbits. He picked it up and brought it to his nose, inhaling its sweet and intoxicating scent. He closed his eyes, wanting to memorize everything.
"My little bunny, my Usako . . . "
Two weeks later . . .
The enemy had retreated, seeking refuge in the dark shadows. Everyone rejoiced. The war was finally over.
Endymion however was not in the celebrating mood. Yes, he was happy that the fighting was over, but he didn't want to leave the camp yet.
Ever since he saw *her*, he returned to the lake every night . . . he hoped to see *her* again, but she never came, still the moon tempted him, gave him the hope that *she* would return to the lake . . . to him.
Some nights he could *feel* a faint presence, almost like the silver light. Other nights, however, he felt nothing.
A glittery romantic
Well he's about to be
and she's about to see
Endymion reluctantly mounted his black horse. He pulled the reins and lead the troops back to the main city, where the palace resided.
His Generals rode on either side of him, giving him worried glances from time to time. Endymion didn't notice. A part of him felt a great loss.
He stopped for a moment, collecting his thoughts. It was silly of him to think that he would see her again. She was probably a water nymph who had decided to visit this particular lake. It was merely a coincidence that he saw her there.
Or was it?
Shaking his head, Endymion pulled the reins once more. He turned his head toward the lake and saw nothing. After he and his men were out of view, a silver light appeared, beckoning to those who saw it.
His bounty's boundless like the sea
His love is endless just as deep
The men reached the gates of the city about two days later. The sun had already set, but the moon had decided not to come out yet.
Endymion sighed as the night guards opened the gates. He looked up at the black sky and wished that the moon would come out and help him find *her*. He was upset that the moon didn't answer his prayers. It didn't help him find what he was looking for.
The more he gives the more he has
'cause both of them are truly infinite
Endymion had never felt *real* love. True, his parents loved him and he loved them, but they say that to be loved by another is the greatest thing . . . the best feeling in the world. He knew that he was ready to love and would do anything for his love, but she was no where to be found.
The Next Day . . .
Endymion's parents were glad for his safe return. They knew how tiring and dangerous the war was and were glad that it was finally over. They glanced at their son worriedly. His Generals had told them of the "incident" at the lake. The King, Endymion's father, thought that it was just a mirage. He reasoned that Endymion was merely tired and imagined the entire encounter.
So he falls enough to feel
That he's fallen,
She'll let him know his heart
Oh don't you know it
Oh don't you know it
But the Queen, Endymion's mother, knew better. She knew that her son was finally in love. Whether or not he knew it was the question that remained on her mind throughout breakfast.
The King's Study, Two days later . . .
Endymion entered through the big white doors. His Generals accompanied him as they were announced to the court.
Endymion and his Generals bowed in respect before being addressed by the King,
"Endymion, we have decided to send you on a diplomatic "mission" to the Moon. We have come to this decision mostly due to the way you handled the war, driving the enemy to defeat," the King said proudly.
"Son," his mother started, "this was was very taxing on us, both emotionally and physically. I've been told that there were certain points during battle when we could've lost."
Endymion nodded, slightly glancing at Zoicite, who probably finished the report and gave it to his parents and the advisors to look over.
"That is why we need more allies," his father continued, "The Moon Kingdom belongs to an alliance known as the Silver Millennium. Most of the planets that surround us belong to it as well."
Endymion took a few moments to "digest" the information before speaking,
"Mother. Father. I thank you for entrusting me with such a great responsibility. I only hope that I can accomplish this task for you and for the people."
"I'm sure you will son," the King said, "Now then, you and your Generals will be leaving for the moon tomorrow. Queen Serenity has agreed to meet with you and will be throwing a ball for your visit. She has also promised that the rulers of the other planets of the Silver Millennium will be present to hear you out. I wish you much luck."
Endymion nodded and left the throne room. His Generals followed, knowing that they had to prepare for tomorrow's departure.
A sinister romantic,
He's on his knees
before he's on his feet
The Moon . . .
Endymion and his Generals arrived late in the afternoon. They were greeted by Queen Serenity and were told that her daughter, Princess Serenity, was training with her guardians, the Senshi. They were led to their quarters by the Queen's advisors, Luna and Artimas.
Endymion shut the door behind him and took in his surroundings. He was entranced by the beauty of the moon. Its flowers and flowing fountains were a sight to see. He had heard about the moon and read about it in books, but he never fathomed that it could look like *this*.
He walked to the balcony and looked out the glass doors. His room overlooked the royal gardens, much like his room on Earth did. Endymion saw the servants carrying baskets of flowers or fruit to the castle. He smiled. He knew that the food was for him to eat and that the flowers were for his eyes to see.
Endymion loved nature, especially flowers. He had heard that the moon had many different types of flowers and was happy that he had the chance to finally see them. Although he was curious to see these new flowers, he knew that none of them could compare to his favorite one. It was the rose, the symbol of love. And now it was the symbole of *her*.
Endymion sighed and pulled the rose he found on the rock out of his pocket. It was still perfect. He walked over to the bed and lay down, closing his eyes.
He pictured her face in his mind. A smile tugged at his lips. He could see her eyes, reflecting happiness and warmth. He could see the way she looked at him with fear. He frowned. He hadn't wanted to scare her, just talk to her and find out why he felt so complete when he saw her.
Endymion twirled the rose in his hand. He began feeling the silver light again. He didn't understand how or why. Ever since he left the lake, the feeling became fainter and fainter until he felt nothing. He had realized that the silver light and the young woman were connected somehow. How they were connected still remained a mystery to him.
But now, now he felt it and her presence. It was even stronger than before. Perhaps *she* wasn't a water nymph. Perhaps *she* was here on the moon.
She'll take him to the brink of deliverance
Show him that much
A part of him wished that she was here, yet he knew that it couldn't be possible for her to be here. It was just wishful thinking.
Or was it?
He couldn't ignore the sudden feeling of nervousness, or the fact that his palms became sweaty, nor could he ignore the way his heart beat faster with each passing second.
Oh don't you know it
Oh don't you know it
A knock on the door broke him out of his thoughts.
"Endymion!" Nephrite yelled, "C'mon, we have to go now! Her majesty is waiting for us!"
Endymion sighed and slowly got up. For some reason he decided to look at his reflection in the mirror. He straitened his shirt and ran his fingers through his silky black hair, before walking to the door and opening it. He was greeted by his Generals who were smirking knowingly.
"What?"
"It never takes you *that* long to answer the door," Jedite teased.
"Yeah," Nephrite agreed.
"What were you doing in there? Preparing to meet the Princess?" Kunzite joked.
"Leave him alone," Zoicite said.
"Thank you Zoicite," Endymion said.
Zoicite smiled, "Its not Endymion's fault that the Princess is said to be very beautiful."
Everyone except Endymion laughed.
"Har, har, you guys. Now can we get going," Endymion said walking away from the group.
"Can't wait to see her, eh Endymion?"
He turned around and glared at them. They laughed and started to follow him toward the hall where the ball was taking place.
So he falls enough to feel
That he's fallen,
The ball had already begun when they arrived. Endymion turned slightly red with embarrassment. This ball was being thrown for him.
He walked directly to the Queen, who was seated on a silver throne. It was embroidered with an intricate pattern he thought he recognized.
'Probably from the books I read,' he thought. But it still didn't shake the feeling off.
He apologized to the Queen, who was very understanding,
"Do not worry, Prince," she said, "I know that you are probably very tired. Coming home from a long war only to be sent here."
"Thank you for understanding, Your Majesty," Endymion said as he bowed.
He then looked up at her and for the first time noticed that her silver hair was put up in the very same hairstyle that *she* had.
"Not a problem," the Queen said smiling.
Endymion's face paled. He bowed his head as his mind began spinning. He had seen *that* smile somewhere. It was almost an exact replica of the one he had seen on the woman he called Usako.
She'll let him know his heart
"Are you alright Endymion," the Queen asked, concern present in her blue eyes.
Endymion's head snapped up. He nodded dumbly and said something about getting some air.
Oh don't you know it
Oh don't you know it
He walked out of the hall and through the gardens. He reached a small fountain and sat down on the edge. It was too coincidental. The Queen looked so much like his angel. It was uncanny for two people to look that much alike. Yet, they did.
Perhaps the Queen knows *her*? Maybe the Queen is related to *her*?
Yes. That made more sense. The Queen not only knew *her* but was probably related to *her*.
Endymion's frown turned into a smile. He resisted the urge to jump up and down. She wasn't his imagination. She was real and probably on the moon. Now all he had to do was somehow ask the Queen without looking crazy.
She'll take him to the brink of deliverance
"You," a voice said, breaking Endymion out of his thoughts.
He looked up to see the same woman from the lake. She was dressed in the same dress and her hair was put up in the same style as before.
"You," he breathed, catching her gaze.
